Arrow Rock is a historic village located in Saline County, Missouri, that played a significant role in westward expansion along the Santa Fe Trail during the 19th century. The village, named after a prominent flint-bearing bluff used by Native Americans for making arrowheads, has preserved much of its 19th-century character.
Originally established in 1829, Arrow Rock became an important stopover point for travelers and merchants on the Santa Fe Trail. The village's well-preserved architecture includes numerous antebellum buildings, reflecting its prosperity during the mid-1800s.
Today, Arrow Rock is recognized as a National Historic Landmark and serves as a living museum of Missouri's early history, with various historic structures that showcase the region's cultural heritage and architectural traditions.
