Augustusburg is a town in the German state of Saxony, situated in the Ore Mountains about 20 kilometers east of Chemnitz. The town is primarily known for its prominent landmark, the Augustusburg Castle, a Renaissance palace built between 1568 and 1572 by Elector Augustus of Saxony.
