Cass is a historic town in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, that grew around the lumber industry in the early 20th century. The town was built around the Cass Scenic Railroad, which was originally constructed in 1901 to haul lumber to the mill. Today, Cass is known for preserving its industrial heritage through the Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, where visitors can experience historic steam locomotives and learn about the region's logging history.
The town maintains much of its original architecture, including company houses built for lumber workers, providing an authentic glimpse into early 20th-century industrial life in the Appalachian Mountains. The surrounding area features natural beauty with access to the Monongahela National Forest and various outdoor recreational opportunities.
