Chiusa (Klausen in German) is a historic town in South Tyrol, nestled in the Eisack Valley between Bolzano and Bressanone. This medieval settlement has preserved much of its original character, with its narrow streets and traditional architecture reflecting both Italian and Germanic cultural influences.

The town gained prominence during the Middle Ages as an important stop along trade routes through the Alps. Chiusa has long been associated with arts and culture, having attracted numerous artists and writers over the centuries who were inspired by its picturesque setting and architectural beauty. The town's cultural heritage is evident in its well-preserved buildings, churches, and the imposing Säben Abbey, which sits atop a rocky cliff overlooking the town.

Today, Chiusa continues to be a center for local arts and crafts, particularly woodcarving, a traditional craft of the South Tyrol region.
