Dobbiaco (Toblach in German) is a municipality in the province of South Tyrol in northern Italy, located in the Val Pusteria valley. This bilingual town, where both Italian and German are spoken, has a rich cultural heritage influenced by both Italian and Austrian traditions.
The town is notably associated with the composer Gustav Mahler, who spent several summers here between 1908 and 1910, composing some of his final works in a small wooden composing hut. Today, this cultural legacy is celebrated through various musical events and festivals.
Dobbiaco is also known for its historic center, featuring traditional Alpine architecture, and its position as a gateway to the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
