Dorney is a historic village and civil parish in Buckinghamshire, England, located near the River Thames and close to the town of Windsor.
The village is perhaps best known for Dorney Court, a Grade I listed Tudor manor house dating from around 1440, which remains one of the finest examples of Tudor architecture in England. The area is also home to Dorney Lake (Eton College Rowing Centre), a world-class rowing and flatwater canoeing venue that hosted events during the 2012 London Olympics.
The village maintains its rural character despite its proximity to London, with historic buildings, farmland, and water meadows contributing to its cultural landscape. Agriculture has historically played an important role in the area, with Dorney Common still being used for cattle grazing, maintaining a centuries-old tradition.
