Helpston is a historic village located in the unitary authority area of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire, England. The village is particularly notable as the birthplace of John Clare (1793-1864), one of England's most celebrated peasant poets. Clare's former home, now known as John Clare Cottage, has been preserved as a museum and literary center dedicated to his life and works.

The village maintains much of its rural character with traditional limestone buildings, reflecting the architectural heritage of the region. The surrounding countryside, with its fields and meadows, greatly influenced Clare's nature poetry and continues to be an important aspect of Helpston's identity. The village is centered around its medieval parish church, St. Botolph's, which dates back to the 12th century and remains an important community landmark.
