Hermansville is a small unincorporated community located in Menominee County in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The community has a rich history tied to the lumber industry, particularly through the Wisconsin Land & Lumber Company, which operated a significant mill in the area during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The company's presence shaped much of the town's early development, including the construction of worker housing and community buildings. While smaller today, Hermansville maintains its historical character through preserved structures from its lumber era, including the IXL Museum, housed in the former Wisconsin Land & Lumber Company office building. This museum showcases the area's logging heritage and the history of the IXL wooden flooring that was once manufactured here.
