Innisfail is a town located in central Alberta, Canada, situated between Calgary and Red Deer along the Queen Elizabeth II Highway. Originally established in the late 1800s, the town was first named Poplar Grove but was later renamed to Innisfail, after the poetic name for Ireland. The community has strong agricultural roots and continues to be an important center for farming and ranching in the region.
The town maintains several historical buildings that reflect its pioneer heritage, including the Dr. George/Kemp House Museum. Today, Innisfail combines its rural charm with modern amenities and serves as a cultural hub for the surrounding area, hosting various community events and festivals throughout the year. The town is also known for being home to the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre, where police service dogs are trained for duty across Canada.
