Jackson is a small historic village located in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. The community was established in the early 19th century and named after Andrew Jackson, who would later become the seventh President of the United States.
The town played a significant role in Louisiana's history, particularly as the site of the former Centenary College, one of the state's earliest institutions of higher learning, which operated there from 1845 to 1908. The area retains much of its historic character, with several antebellum buildings and structures that reflect its past as a significant educational and cultural center in 19th-century Louisiana.
Today, Jackson maintains its small-town charm while preserving its architectural and cultural heritage.
