Kaslo is a historic village situated in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada, along the shores of Kootenay Lake. Founded in the late 19th century during the silver mining boom, this small community has preserved much of its Victorian-era architecture and mining heritage.
The village is notably home to the S.S. Moyie, the world's oldest intact passenger sternwheeler, which now serves as a National Historic Site and museum. The community's cultural identity is shaped by its rich history in mining, forestry, and transportation, as well as its role in housing Japanese Canadian internees during World War II.
Today, Kaslo combines its historical significance with a vibrant arts scene and serves as a gateway to outdoor recreational activities in the surrounding Selkirk Mountains.
