Lanark is a historic village located in Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1820 as part of the settlement of Scottish immigrants, the village was named after Lanark, Scotland. The community developed initially around the timber industry and later became a significant agricultural center in the region.
The village preserves much of its Scottish heritage through its architecture and local traditions. Today, Lanark is known for its scenic location in the Ottawa Valley, its historic buildings, and its role in preserving local history. The village maintains several heritage structures that reflect its early settlement period and continues to serve as a cultural hub for the surrounding rural area.
