Le Claire is a historic river town located along the Mississippi River in Scott County, Iowa. Founded in the 1830s, the city has deep connections to river navigation history, particularly known as the home of Buffalo Bill Cody and skilled river pilots who helped steamboats navigate the treacherous Upper Rapids of the Mississippi.
The town retains much of its 19th-century charm with a well-preserved downtown district featuring historic architecture. Today, Le Claire combines its river heritage with cultural attractions, including antique shops and local artisan venues. The city has gained additional recognition as the home base of the American Pickers television show and their Antique Archaeology store.
The town's riverfront location continues to play a significant role in its cultural identity, offering visitors a glimpse into both past and present Mississippi River life.
