Legnago is a historic town located in the province of Verona in northern Italy. Situated along the Adige River, it has played a significant role in the region's history as a strategic military outpost since Roman times.
The town is particularly known as the birthplace of the renowned composer Antonio Salieri (1750-1825), who later became the imperial Kapellmeister at the Habsburg court in Vienna. Legnago's cultural heritage is reflected in its historical architecture, including the remains of its military fortifications designed by the famous architect Michele Sanmicheli in the 16th century. The town maintains its connection to its cultural past while functioning as a modern agricultural and industrial center in the Veneto region.
