Maunabo is a coastal municipality located in the southeastern region of Puerto Rico. This small town is known for its historic Punta Tuna Lighthouse (Faro de Punta Tuna), which was built in 1892 and has served as an important navigational aid for ships passing through the Caribbean Sea.
The town has maintained much of its traditional Puerto Rican character, with its economy historically based on agriculture, particularly the cultivation of coconuts and other tropical fruits. The area's natural landscape features beautiful beaches and coastal areas that reflect the Caribbean heritage of the region. While smaller than many other Puerto Rican municipalities, Maunabo plays a role in preserving local cultural traditions and customs typical of Puerto Rico's coastal communities.
