Moorcroft is a small town located in Crook County, Wyoming, United States. Situated in the northeastern part of the state, the town was established in 1906 and named after Alexander Moorcroft, an early settler in the area. The community developed as a railway town along the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad.
Today, Moorcroft serves as a gateway to several historical and natural attractions in the region, including the Devils Tower National Monument, which lies approximately 30 miles to the northeast. The town maintains its rural character and reflects the regional culture of the American West, with ranching and agriculture playing important roles in its local heritage.
While modest in size, Moorcroft preserves its historical connection to Wyoming's frontier past through its local historical collections and community events.
