Müncheberg is a small town located in the district of Märkisch-Oderland in Brandenburg, Germany, approximately 50 kilometers east of Berlin. Founded in the 13th century, the town still retains elements of its medieval heritage, including parts of its historic city walls and the notable Romanesque-Gothic St. Mary's Church, which dates back to 1232.
The town's development has been influenced by its agricultural surroundings and scientific research, as it is home to the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF), an important institution for environmental and agricultural studies. Despite wartime damage in the 20th century, Müncheberg has preserved some of its historic architecture and continues to serve as a local cultural center in the eastern Brandenburg region.
