Navelli is a medieval village located in the province of L'Aquila, in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. Situated on a hill at an elevation of about 760 meters above sea level, this small commune is particularly known for its production of saffron, often referred to as "red gold."

The historic center of Navelli features characteristic stone architecture typical of medieval Italian hill towns, with narrow streets, archways, and well-preserved historic buildings. The village's cultural heritage is reflected in its religious architecture, including the Church of San Sebastiano and several other historic religious buildings.

The area around Navelli has been inhabited since ancient times, with archaeological evidence suggesting settlements dating back to the Roman period. Today, while maintaining its historical character, the village continues to be an important center for traditional agricultural practices, particularly the cultivation of its prized DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) saffron.
