Neckarburken is a small village located in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, situated along the Neckar River. The settlement has historical significance due to its Roman heritage, as it was once the site of a Roman fort (castellum) that formed part of the Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Roman fort was built in the 2nd century AD and served as part of the frontier defense system of the Roman Empire. Archaeological excavations have uncovered various Roman artifacts and structural remains in the area, providing insights into the region's ancient history.
Today, Neckarburken is part of the municipality of Elztal and maintains its connection to its Roman past through preserved archaeological sites.
