Rio Pardo is a historic municipality located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Founded in 1809, it was one of the first settlements in the region and played a significant role in the state's colonization. The city sits along the banks of the Jacuí River and retains much of its colonial architecture and cultural heritage.
Several historic buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries still stand in the city center, reflecting the Portuguese colonial influence. The city's cultural landscape includes traditional gaucho customs typical of southern Brazil, combining both urban and rural traditions.
While smaller than many Brazilian cities, Rio Pardo maintains its importance as a historical and cultural reference point in Rio Grande do Sul.
