San Martino in Badia (St. Martin in Thurn in German, San Martin de Tor in Ladin) is a municipality in South Tyrol, located in the Dolomites region of northern Italy. The town is situated in the Val Badia valley and is known for being one of the centers of Ladin culture and language, an ancient Romance language still spoken in the area.
The municipality encompasses several small villages and hamlets scattered across the mountainous landscape. The area has preserved much of its traditional Alpine culture, including distinctive architecture, crafts, and customs. The Museum Ladin Ćiastel de Tor, housed in a medieval castle, serves as an important cultural institution documenting and preserving the unique heritage of the Ladin people.
