Searchlight is a small, historic mining town located in Clark County, Nevada, approximately 60 miles south of Las Vegas. Founded in 1897 when gold was discovered in the area, the town played a significant role in Nevada's mining history. At its peak in the early 1900s, Searchlight was home to a thriving mining industry with numerous gold mines operating in the area.

Today, while mining activities have largely ceased, the town preserves aspects of its mining heritage through various historical sites and structures. The surrounding Mojave Desert landscape provides context for understanding the region's natural and cultural history. The town is also known as the birthplace of former U.S. Senator Harry Reid, who grew up there during its mining days.
