Upper Sandusky is a city serving as the county seat of Wyandot County, Ohio. The city derives its name from its location on the upper part of the Sandusky River, and from its historical connection to the Wyandot (also known as Huron) Native American people who once inhabited the area.
The city was established in 1843 and has preserved much of its historical character through its architecture and cultural heritage. Upper Sandusky played a significant role in the early development of north-central Ohio, particularly during the period of Native American relations and early American settlement.
Today, the city maintains its small-town charm while serving as a regional center for agriculture and local industry.
