The West Fries Museum is housed in the former ‘Statencollege’ from 1632. It is a regional history museum with a diverse collection. The museum has a large number of objects related to the history of the city of Hoorn, applied art, archaeology, militia and trading. A large room in the museum is dedicated to the VOC, in which the museum exhibits navigational instruments, ship models and paintings of traders and governors.

Afgelopen woensdagmiddag hebben mijn vriendin en ik uw museum bezocht. Wat is het de laatste tijd fantastisch geworden. Spannende exposities en met name de aparte audiotoer die U aanbiedt is elke keer zeer verrassend. Kortom een top museum. Een ding moet me echter van het hart. Je wordt niet echt aardig en gastvrij ontvangen. De mensen achter de balie hebben meer aandacht voor hun gesprek dan voor de bezoeker en bieden ook de audiotour niet aan. Dat ontdek je pas als de suppoost vertelt dat die beschikbaar is.
Een verbeterpuntje du s wellicht.
Ik ga zeker de expositie nogmaals zien.

Good museum. Many rooms that make you relive the history and feel how people used to live. Nice miniature city and stories on various topics/themes. Very nice to know about the history of this amazing glamorous city. Highly recommended to visit.
