The Gruuthusemuseum is housed in the majestic palace of the Lords of Gruuthuse that dates back to the 15th century. The museum illustrates life as it was in the high society of the 13th to the 19th century. The museum collection is varied and consists mainly of applied art and furniture, silverware, tapestries and ceramics. In addition, there are paintings, weapons, musical instruments, utensils and a guillotine.
