The National Photographic Archive is home to the biggest Irish photographers. The museum solely relies on collections from individual donations and purchase. The National Photographic Archive has both contemporary and historical collections though most of its collections are historical. The collections is a various one, from topographical pictures to studio portraits and from political events to early tourist photographs. The award winning architectural building opened its doors in 1998 and since then it has collaborated with a number of instituitions for its growth. The museum holds several exhibitions per year.
