The BELvue Museum is located in the Bellevue Hotel, which was built in the late 18th century on the ruins of the former castle of the Dukes of Brabant. It is the museum of Belgian history and is a center for democracy. The museum presents a picture of Belgium, its history, its socio-economic development and its institutional functioning. Themes covered include the colonization of the Congo, the struggle for citizenship rights, community movements, the question of kings and the golden sixties. The collection consists of historical documents, film clips, photographs and historical objects.
