Eisenhower National Historic Site Reviews

Eisenhower National Historic Site has 2 ratings.

  • Apollo's Insights AI-Generated

The Eisenhower National Historic Site in Gettysburg offers visitors a glimpse into the personal life of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The site includes the former president's home and farm, preserved to reflect the 1950s era.

Visitors appreciate the well-maintained grounds and the opportunity to see the Eisenhowers' living spaces. The guided tours are informative, providing insights into Eisenhower's presidency and his life after leaving office. Many find the furnished rooms and personal artifacts to be engaging and historically significant.

The site's connection to the Gettysburg battlefield adds historical context, as Eisenhower used the farm as a weekend retreat and a meeting place for world leaders. Some visitors note that the tour can be a bit lengthy, and the site may not be as engaging for younger children or those less interested in mid-20th century history.

While the museum is not extensive, it effectively showcases Eisenhower's military career and presidency. The gift shop offers a good selection of books and memorabilia.

Some visitors mention that the shuttle ride from the visitor center is necessary to access the site, which might be inconvenient for some. Additionally, the site's rural location means there are limited dining options nearby.

Overall, the Eisenhower National Historic Site provides a valuable educational experience for those interested in American history and presidential life, though it may not appeal to all visitors equally.

Awful we called didn't get an answer. So we went to location only to see confusion getting to house then no one present to receive us with answers about tour. We did enter house in the hopes of finding a guide who help only finding a nasty ranger who was too aggressive and accused me of trespass then threatened me. All over a patron who allowed me in door and searching for someone who could help. The ranger was terrible ego driven person who acted as though me searching for tour of help was a reason to be nasty. Won't return here. so unprofessional despite being told what happe ned.
