From its inception in 2001 until the end of 2013, the Fondation pour l'art contemporain Salomon was housed in the Château d'Arenthon in Alex, near Annecy in Haute-Savoie. The Château d'Arenthon, which dates back to the 13th century, is one of the earliest examples of Renaissance architecture in Haute-Savoie. The visible parts of the castle come from modifications made in the 16th century. The castle, located at the foot of the Dent du Cruet and the Dents de Lanfon, overlooks the Fier valley and offers an exceptional panorama of the Parmelan ridges and the Tête à Turpin.
In January 2014, the Fondation pour l'art contemporain Salomon moved to La FabriC in Annecy to develop new activities and get closer to the public. The foundation's new location allowed it to expand its offerings, including exhibitions, meetings, conferences, artistic trips, and initiatives to introduce young people to contemporary art.
In addition to its exhibition spaces, the Fondation pour l'art contemporain Salomon also features a tea room and a contemporary art library that are open to the public. The library, which contains over 1,500 works, allows visitors to supplement their visit by consulting exhibition catalogs, monographic, thematic or historical works on contemporary art, as well as the latest news from specialized press.
