The Paccard Bell Foundry, also known as Fonderie Paccard, has a rich history dating back to 1796. It was originally established in the municipality of Quintal near Annecy. Today, the foundry is located in Sevrier, continuing its long-standing tradition of bell making.
One of the notable achievements of the Paccard Bell Foundry is the creation of the largest bell in France in 1891. Known as the Savoyarde, this bell was made for the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur in Montmartre, Paris. With a weight of 18,835 kilograms and a height of 3.06 meters, the Savoyarde remains one of the largest bells in the world.
Since 1989, the Paccard Bell Foundry has been situated in Sevrier, on the outskirts of Annecy. This location also houses the Paccard Bell Museum, which was founded in 1984. The museum provides ample space to showcase the rich history and craftsmanship of the Paccard Bell Foundry.
