Fonds régional d'art contemporain and its collection

Source

Unlike museums or art centers, FRACs are not associated with a single exhibition location. Each collection is considered a nomadic heritage, rich in educational tools, that moves within the country and abroad. This principle of mobility makes them key players in redistributing culture across the territory, reducing geographical, social, and cultural disparities and promoting access to contemporary art to a diversified public.

Artworks in FRACs

The works in the collections of the FRACs are mainly post-1960, and are created by artists representative of the French and international scene. Each FRAC currently has between 350 and 2500 works and has an annual acquisition budget to enrich its collection. This makes the FRACs a significant source of contemporary art, with a wide range of works from various artists.

Parade: A Traveling Exhibition

Parade is a traveling exhibition, which took place during three weekends of June 2010, based on a selection of works from the FRAC Île de France. This project was conceived by Xavier Franceschi and curated by Guillaume des Anges. The exhibition moved throughout the region in the form of a tent and was set up in various public places. This unique approach to public art reflects the FRAC's mission of raising awareness of contemporary art.
