Historisch Museum Vriezenveen is housed in the former town hall of Almelo. It illustrates the history of the municipality of Almelo. Among others, there is a permanent exhibition on the history of the textile industry in the region. There is also a Russian section where the story is told of the ‘Rusluie’. This was a group of merchants that in the 18th and 19th century established a Vriezenveen trading colony in Saint Petersburg. In addition, the museum features a farmhouse kitchen, a living room and an old classroom.
