Hortus Botanicus Leiden, of the Leiden University is the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands, from 1590. The first plants were planted in 1594. Four centuries of collecting has resulted in a garden with a variety of exotic unknown plants. The Hortus features an Orangery from 1744, tropical greenhouses from1938 and a winter garden from 2000.

Autumn and Winter: from Jan. 2 through March 20, the Hortus and the Hortus Grand Cafe is open from 10:00am-17:00pm.
Spring and summer: from March 21 to September 20, the Hortus and the Hortus Grand Cafe is open from 9:00am-6:00pm.
