The Latvian National Museum of Art is an art museum in Riga that is housed in a building, built in 1905, designed by German architect Wilhelm Neumann. The building houses the collections of Latvian paintings, graphic art and sculptures encompassing the period from the 18th century to the middle of the 20th century, including three memorial collections that contain a multitude of works of art, documents and memorial objects of Jāzeps Grosvalds, Teodors Zaļkalns and Gustavs Šķilters. The collection illustrates the development of Latvian art, with emphasis on the various (stylistic) periods, the artists responsible and the highlights of the time. The exhibition of the Latvian National Museum Of Art includes masterpieces of the founders of the Latvian national painting school: Vilhelms Purvītis, Jānis Rozentāls and Johans Valters.
