Los Molinos de la Vila, also known as Els Molins de la Vila in Catalan, are situated one kilometer east of the village of Montblanch, nestled between the Francolí and Anguera rivers. Specifically, they are located on the bank of the Anguera river. This location provides a picturesque setting for visitors to explore and appreciate the historical significance of these mills.
The Los Molinos de la Vila complex is made up of two ancient flour mills: El Molí de la Volta and El Molí Xic. These mills were constructed by the community of Montblanch between the late 13th and early 14th centuries. The historical significance of these mills, coupled with their architectural design, offers a unique insight into the technological advancements of the period.
In 1985, the Montblanch Museum-Archive acquired the mills and embarked on a restoration project that lasted until 1992, with the collaboration of various public administrations. Today, the mills are open to the public as a section of the Montblanch Museum. Visitors can explore the mills and learn about their historical, technological, and architectural significance.
