The Musée de Mayotte (MuMA) is a museum that showcases the historical, cultural, and environmental heritage of Mayotte, a French overseas department situated in the Indian Ocean. The museum is currently located on the rock of Dzaoudzi, in an old barracks built in 1845. It was inaugurated in 2015 and received the label Musée de France on December 20, 2018.
The Musée de Mayotte (MuMA) showcases the richness of Mayotte's material and immaterial heritage. This includes multilingualism, women's debaa, live music, traditional jewelry art, village groceries (douka), Bandrélé salt, archaeological research, cannons, and the rock of Dzaoudzi. These exhibits provide a comprehensive view of the island's diverse cultural and historical aspects.
