The Museo del Carbone, or Coal Museum, is an educational institution situated at the Serbariu mine in Carbonia, Sardinia. Opening and Management of the Museo del Carbone

The Museo del Carbone was officially opened to the public on November 3, 2006. It also serves as the headquarters for the Italian Centre for Coal Culture (CICC). This association, established in February 2006, is a collaboration between the municipality of Carbonia and the Geomineral, Historical and Environmental Park of Sardinia. The CICC manages the entire structure of the museum.

Museo del Carbone's Role in the European Route of Industrial Heritage

The Museo del Carbone is a significant part of the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH), a network that highlights important sites of industrial archaeology across Europe. The Italian Centre for Coal Culture (CICC), which is based at the museum, is one of the Anchor Points in this network. Furthermore, the museum is included in two European Theme Routes, one focusing on the Mining Industry and the other on Industrial Landscapes.
