The Natural History Museum in Berlin (Museum für Naturkunde) is housed in a building erected between 1883 and 1889. With a collection of more than 60 million objects, it is one of the largest natural history museums in the world. A highlight in the Natural History Musuem in Berlin is the world's largest dinosaur skeleton, a colossal brachiosaurus of 23 m long and 12 m high that was discovered in 1909 during a German expedition in Tanzania. Furthermore, there are stuffed birds and mammals in addition to colorful shells and butterflies. The museum also includes a collection of minerals and meteorites.
