Onderwijsmuseum and its collection

The Stedelijk Onderwijsmuseum is housed in the former St. Nicholas Church and is dedicated to education in Flanders. The museum illustrates the evolution of education, from medieval times to the present. Important in the museum is the reconstruction of two classrooms of 1700 and 1930. And in a ‘do-classroom’, visitors can scratch on a slate with a slate pencil on old school desks.
