One Times Square, also known as the New York Times Building or Times Tower, is a prominent skyscraper located at Times Square in Manhattan, New York City. This iconic building, once the headquarters of The New York Times, is renowned for its large digital billboards and the historic Times Square Ball. It occupies a small block bounded by West 43rd Street, Broadway, West 42nd Street, and Seventh Avenue, marking the southern end of the world-famous square.
Since 1907, One Times Square has been the site of the annual New Year's Eve Ball Drop ceremony. This event, which involves the lowering of a lit Times Square Ball from a mast on the roof, begins with a countdown 60 seconds before midnight and is one of the highlights of American New Year's Eve celebrations.
In 2022, a comprehensive renovation of One Times Square began, which included a complete refurbishment of the interiors, a new facade, a visitor center with a public viewing platform overlooking Times Square, a glass exterior elevator, a six-story museum on the history of Times Square, a new Zipper newsticker, and another ticker on Broadway above the entrance to the viewing platform and access to the subway station. The viewing platform, which is bounded by glass railings, wraps around the entire building and features a glass floor on the east side with a view of Broadway.
