The Ypres Urban Museum is housed in the former Saint John's House of God built in 1555. In the Middle Ages, Ypres was one of Flanders' major cities, as well as a bishopric and a border town. The museum paints a picture of this history through prints, maps and archaeological finds. In addition, the museum displays works of art from the 16th century to the present, including paintings, silverware, pewter, porcelain, sculptures and furniture.
