The Yorkshire Museum of Farming is a museum on the outskirts of York devoted to farming. The main exhibition takes the visitor through a year on the farm and depicts the changing work of farmers through the seasons, also exploring the shift from human effort to mechanisation. Objects date from the early 1800s to the 1960s, times of major change in agricultural technology. The second floor of the main exhibition hall features an exhibition about the history of the Women’s Land Army in World War One and World War Two. Other objects in its collection include domestic items and other documentary material relating to the social structure of local rural life.
