Eext is a small village located in the municipality of Aa en Hunze in the Dutch province of Drenthe. The area around Eext is characterized by its rural landscape and archaeological significance, particularly from prehistoric times.
The village and its surroundings contain several hunebeds (ancient megalithic tombs) that date back to the Neolithic period, around 3400-2850 BC. These prehistoric monuments are characteristic of the Funnel Beaker Culture and represent some of the oldest visible remains of human presence in the Netherlands.
The village maintains its agricultural character while serving as a gateway to explore the cultural heritage of ancient Drenthe.
