Heptonstall is a historic village perched on a hillside above Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire, England. This ancient settlement, dating back to at least the 13th century, is characterized by its well-preserved cobbled streets and traditional Yorkshire stone buildings.

The village is notable for having two churches in its churchyard - the ruins of the old Church of St Thomas a' Becket, which was damaged in a storm in 1847, and the newer St Thomas the Apostle Church. Heptonstall is also known for its literary connections, being the burial place of the American poet Sylvia Plath.

The village maintains much of its historical character, with its traditional weavers' cottages serving as reminders of its textile manufacturing past during the Industrial Revolution. The village's unique heritage and architectural preservation make it an important site for understanding the social and industrial history of Yorkshire.
