Llantrisant is a historic town in South Wales, situated on a hilltop overlooking the valleys below. The name Llantrisant means 'Parish of the Three Saints' in Welsh, referring to Saints Illtyd, Gwynno, and Dyfodwg.

The town's medieval heritage is evident in its narrow winding streets and the remains of its 13th-century castle, built by Gilbert de Clare. Llantrisant was once an important market town and held significant administrative powers as one of the ancient boroughs of Glamorgan.

The town is known for its connection to the Royal Mint, which relocated its operations from Tower Hill in London to Llantrisant in the 1960s, bringing modern industry to this historic settlement. The town maintains strong Welsh cultural traditions and is home to the Llantrisant Town Trust, which preserves local customs including the ancient Freemen of Llantrisant tradition.

    I thoroughly enjoyed taking my family to this visitor experience which was good value for money and including many fascinating exhibits relating to coin production. The tour experience was slick and professional whilst allowing time to ask questions.
