Longwy is a commune in northeastern France, located in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department within the Grand Est region. The town has a rich industrial heritage, particularly known for its historical iron and steel industry, as well as its distinctive enameled earthenware production known as "Émaux de Longwy."
The town is divided into three main parts: Longwy-Haut (the upper town), which features a remarkable fortified old town designed by Vauban and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site; Longwy-Bas (the lower town); and Longwy-Gouraincourt.
The town's cultural identity has been shaped by its position at the intersection of three borders - France, Belgium, and Luxembourg - resulting in a unique blend of influences reflected in its local traditions and architectural heritage.
