Morón is a city located in the province of Ciego de Ávila in central Cuba. Known as "The City of the Rooster" (Ciudad del Gallo), the city's nickname comes from a bronze weathervane in the shape of a rooster that has become one of its distinctive symbols.

Founded in the 16th century, Morón developed as an important agricultural and commercial center, particularly during the sugar industry boom. The city maintains much of its colonial architecture and layout, reflecting its historical significance in the region.

The surrounding area features natural attractions including the northern keys (cayos) accessible via a causeway, and the nearby Cunagua Wildlife Refuge. The city's cultural heritage is preserved in its local traditions, music, and architecture, making it a representative example of inland Cuban urban development.
