Newton Abbot is a historic market town located in Devon, England. Situated between Exeter and Plymouth, the town developed significantly during the Victorian era due to its position as a railway hub and its clay mining industry.

The town's history dates back to medieval times when it grew around the Tower of St Leonard, which was part of the Bradley Manor estate. Today, Newton Abbot maintains its traditional market town character while serving as a commercial center for the surrounding area.

The town has preserved much of its cultural heritage through its historic buildings, including the 13th-century St. Leonard's Tower and the Victorian-era Passmore Edwards Public Library. The town's cultural scene is enriched by its local history museum, which showcases the area's railway heritage and the town's connection to the ball clay industry that shaped its development.
