Pamplona (Iruña in Basque) is the capital city of the autonomous community of Navarre in northern Spain. Founded by the Roman general Pompey in 75 BCE, the city has a rich historical heritage visible in its medieval architecture and well-preserved old town.

The city is perhaps best known internationally for the San Fermín festival and its running of the bulls, but it also has a significant cultural presence throughout the year. The city's museums house important collections of religious art, archaeology, and contemporary works.

Pamplona's location along the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route has influenced its cultural development, making it a meeting point of different artistic and cultural traditions. The city combines its historical heritage with modern urban development, featuring numerous parks, cultural centers, and educational institutions, including the University of Navarre.
