Ribadesella is a historic coastal town in the autonomous community of Asturias, northern Spain. Located at the mouth of the Sella River where it meets the Cantabrian Sea, the town combines maritime heritage with significant prehistoric importance.
The area is notably known for the Tito Bustillo Cave, a UNESCO World Heritage site containing Paleolithic cave art dating back to around 22,000 BCE. The town itself developed as a fishing port and today maintains its traditional character with its old quarter, fishing harbor, and historic architecture.
Beyond its cultural heritage, Ribadesella is also known for hosting the International Descent of the Sella River, an important canoeing event that takes place annually. The town's combination of natural beauty, prehistoric art, and maritime culture makes it an important cultural destination in Asturias.
